Me petting a cute stray kitty in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Christmas. Look at his face! AWW!
We’re back from vaca! John and I went to Florida and the Caribbean for Christmas, and missed all of the snowpocalipse that was Seattle last week. Although I miss the 80 degree weather, sunshine, and endless eating and drinking with my new “cousins” it does feel good to be home. We missed Shadow and Mowgli!
I purchased a Pro account on Flickr so I could share my pics from the trip with the fam. I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time, actually. Here’s my photostream.
Soon I’ll be putting up pictures from Alaska this summer and Japan last year, and every little trip to Oak Harbor and Portland in between.

I picked up this book by my favorite designer over the summer, but never actually read it… and now I am! In Lotta Prints, Scandinavian “surface designer” Lotta Jansdotter shows, in depth, how to create prints using pretty much everything–leaves, potatoes, linoleum blocks, and stencils.

Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries (and collaborator on these awesome phones I saw in Japan), released the super-interesting Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2009. The report features the top ten colors for women’s fashion for spring ’09, along with cool designer sketches (like this one) for each color. Read the article here.
We’re taking inspiration from this list for our three new city guide books at work. Not sure if I’m allowed to leak the colors we picked!

1. Organize
I am a total pack rat–I have shelves, boxes, closets, and more shelves full of stuff. My boss’s current goal is to “live like she lives in a hotel,” meaning no clutter, things, and stuff! Ikea here I come!
2. Create
This year, I graduated from college and have had more than enough time on my hands to create. But have I been doing it? Well, not really. In 2009, I would like to make something creative at least once a week.
3. Learn
I will learn HTML and CSS like the back of my hand. I will learn HTML and CSS like the back of my hand. I will learn HTML and CSS like the back of my hand.
4. Share
Upload all pictures to Flickr (I bought a Pro account yesterday!) and write on this blog so friends and family can see what I’m up to.
5. Inspire
Speaking of blog, this place will be a spot for me to store and somewhat organize my inspirations.
